It is sad day indeed. Why? Because JJ Abrams has been officially selected to direct of the new Star Wars movie, the Star Wars VII. We are deeply sadden because what has happened to the world we live in and to the cinematography. Now, more than ever before we need people that understand science fiction and people who would and will not jeopardize integrity of the story, idea and legacy that has been created by countless people working on the previous installments for a cheap thrill with teenagers and blow up action scenes. Well, we hated George Lucas and now we got this. To go and prove that JJ Abrams is not the man of his word (nor was he ever) here is an quoted sentence from the “famous director” stating that HE WILL NOT be directing or in any other way involved into Star Wars sequel:
(T)here were the very early conversations and I quickly said that because of my loyalty to Star Trek, and also just being a fan, I wouldn’t even want to be involved in the next version of those things. I declined any involvement very early on. I’d rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them.
The interview was with the Empire magazine where he discussed his love for the Star Wars franchise, and since the interview was done almost a month ago you can see how things work. Here at TREKNEXUS we are truly sadden that this person has been marked as the reviewer of the franchises. Maybe he is the necromancer that was mentioned in the Hobbit.
